Timeshare property developers, sales agents and marketing companies shall all be required by the new law to obtain the appropriate commercial licenses. It’s envisaged that the new law shall also introduce measures to tackle the mis-description and mis-marketing of timeshare properties to protect consumers. |

Abu Dhabi has charged the recently-formed Urban Development Council
with the AED 600 billion real estate development master-plan for the Emirate up to 2030. The Emirate project it’s population shall increase from the present 930,000 to 3 million in that period.

The Dubai Mortgage industry experts predict that 2008 will see overseas financial institutes consolidate their foothold in the developing Dubai mortgage market, as many real estate projects in the Emirate are delivered to the market. The new international players are charging lending rates closer to 5.4% rather then the market norm of 8% and are offering up to 90-95% loan to value mortgages. |

Rent freeze

The Sharjah government has recently announced the continuation of a three-year rent freeze on tenancy contracts just as the Omani government announced a two-year rent freeze. Both decrees are seen as measures to protect tenants from “overheating” of rents in these two markets. |
